Travel has a way of reminding us of who we are and where we truly belong. After one of the longest breaks I’ve taken in years, I recently returned from an incredible journey across the United States. I spent time with family in Colorado Springs, soaked up the sunshine in Hawaii, and wandered the streets of New York and Miami.

I also enjoyed a spectacular cruise from Fort Lauderdale hosted by the legendary David Foster, who has helped artists such as Céline Dion rise to global fame. It was a holiday filled with music, memories, and moments I’ll always treasure.

Yet, as wonderful as the adventure was, something familiar happened – something that seems to occur every time I travel. I found myself quietly comparing each destination to home. It reminded me just how fortunate we are to live in Australia, and especially here in Perth, Western Australia. The endless blue skies. The wide-open spaces. The sense of safety and calm. The multicultural vibrancy. The opportunities for our children. The feeling that life here isn’t just lived, but lived well.

I also feel incredibly grateful that the WA Government and many local councils have embraced the Lifestyle Resort model. It means the people who helped build this state – who raised families, contributed to communities, and shaped the Western Australia we know today – can enjoy a new chapter that respects the life they’ve lived, while giving them the freedom to live life on their own terms.

A few months ago, one of our Providence Homeowners shared a similar experience with me. He emailed after returning from an overseas trip, describing his arrival back in Perth at three in the morning following a long flight from Tokyo, complete with delays, cold weather and a lengthy wait for an Uber. He spoke of feeling exhausted and frustrated. Then, as he turned into the Resort and reached for the remote to open the gate, his wife took his hand and smiled. She didn’t say a word – but her smile said everything. “We’re home.”

In that moment, the stress of the previous twenty-four hours disappeared. He told me that was when he truly knew their decision to move to a Providence Resort in 2023 had been the right one.

That simple moment – a gate opening, a hand held, a smile shared – says more about the meaning of home than any travel brochure ever could.

Home isn’t just a place. It’s a feeling. A sense of grounding. A return to yourself.

For many of our Homeowners, Providence has become exactly that – a place where life feels easier, safer and more connected. A place where coming home is the best part of the journey.
